Hello there! My name is Samantha, and I'm a 20 something originally from Tallahassee, Florida. I moved away from home to attend college at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. While there I met some of my closest friends and saw my passion for teaching grow more than I thought possible.
After graduating last May, I moved back to Florida and started the job hunt process. I delivered my resume to over 30 elementary schools along the Gulf Coast, and ended up accepting a third grade position in Crestview, Florida. I now live about 30 minutes away from Destin (hello best summer vacation spot ever!) where I spend my days teaching math and science to 36 third graders.

I started this blog while I was student teaching with the intention of documenting that experience, and carrying that into my first year teaching. I did a pretty good job of keeping up with sharing glimpses into my week while student teaching, but then I became a real teacher with my very own classroom and 36 kids looking to me, and this blog fell to the wayside. Teaching has been the most challenging, exhausting, and stressful thing I have ever done. BUT, it has also been the most rewarding, fulfilling, and fun thing I have ever done. Every morning when I walk into my classroom, I know that my job matters.
I believe that learning should be hands-on, meaningful, and fun. Nothing fires me up more than hearing a student say, "I never liked math until this year! You make learning fun!" Seeing my kids engaged in purposeful learning makes all the long hours so worth it.
So, that's a little about me! I'm a Christ-follower and third grade teacher. I love joy-filled classrooms, beach days, mountain adventures, Starbucks, Target trips, handwritten letters, Netflix, and laughter. I would love for you to join me on my teaching journey!
